82nd Avenue Community Solar

82nd Avenue Community Solar

A new 800 kW Community Solar Project is coming to Portland, Oregon, in partnership with BEF, the Bird Alliance of Oregon, and Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon (APANO). The project is estimated to be operational by Spring 2027. Once operational, the project will generate clean energy and help reduce electricity costs for approximately 170 low-income households.

Funded by the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund (PCEF), this project is developed in partnership with APANO, Bird Alliance of Oregon, Upliftic Energy, Bonneville Environmental Foundation, and Pacific Power. It is part of the Oregon Community Solar Program, overseen by the Oregon Public Utility Commission.

What is Community Solar?

The Oregon Community Solar Program gives thousands of Oregonians new opportunities to go solar without needing to own a home, have a sunny roof, or make upfront investments.

Community solar allows many people to invest in a large off-site solar project and share the benefits. The energy generated by the 82nd Avenue project goes to the utility energy grid, and the value of that energy is applied to your monthly utility bill. There is a monthly fee, but for income-qualified participants, it will always be smaller than the credit- resulting in savings every month! So you can feel good about supporting clean, renewable energy without paying the upfront costs of your own rooftop solar panels.

Qualified low-income participants will save around 50% annually on their electric bills.
