how we are funded

As an entrepreneurial 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, we rely on a unique combination of revenue-generating products and services, as well as the generous support of contributions from philanthropic organizations.

We generate a significant portion of our annual revenue from our suite of environmental products sold to a wide range of businesses, nonprofits, utilities and government agencies throughout the U.S. Profits from the sale of these products and services are reinvested into our community-based programs that are focused on long-term watershed restoration and renewable energy education.

In addition, our Solar 4R SchoolsTM program relies on the generous support of corporate, nonprofit and utility funding partners to ensure our projects are implemented at minimal cost to participating schools.

Grants and contributions, including major funding from the Bonneville Power Administration and the Meyer Memorial Trust comprise approximately 25% of our annual revenue and primarily support our Model Watershed Program and renewable energy project development work.
