The Bonneville Environmental Foundation is dedicated to restoring watershed ecosystems throughout the United States. Since 1999, BEF has committed over $1.6 million to support community-based initiatives that improve water quality, restore habitat, and bolster native salmon and trout populations.
To learn more about how our watershed program works, please watch our new, animated video that describes how we take a long-term approach at watershed restoration:
By applying rigorous project standards and supporting only long-term and science-based restoration initiatives, we invest our resources in projects with the greatest potential to produce positive ecological improvements. To ensure that our investments reinforce scientific and effective restoration strategies, BEF employs a comprehensive 10-year Model Watershed approach that enables us to evaluate cumulative progress over time and improve future actions based on measured results.
BEF’s long-term Model Watershed approach tracks restoration results and strives to demonstrate accountability for our actions and investments. The above photos display early results of BEF restoration investments.
