Race Green with BEF Carbon Offsets
BEF's Race Green program is specifically designed for offsetting the carbon dioxide emissions from traveling to and from your racing destination. Many athletes struggle with their consumption of jet fuel and gasoline as they travel to each event. Race Green supports the funds necessary for increasing the use of non-polluting renewable sources of power.
Air and water pollution, primarily from burning fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas, is causing unseasonably warmer temperatures, reduction in snow-pack levels and ultimately has devastating repercussions on our environment and wildlife.
You can make a difference in our nation's energy mix. With each purchase of a BEF Carbon Offset you help reduce the impacts of driving to your racing destination. Each BEF Carbon Offset replaces energy from traditional, polluting sources with clean, renewable and sustainable sources of power. Calculate your carbon footprint with BEF today.
Race Green Athlete Profile
BEF is proud to sponsor Justin Angle, our very first carbon neutral athlete. Justin has been competing in endurance sports for the last 15 years. After moving to Seattle in 2003, Justin decided to focus exclusively on long distance running. Since then, he has completed over 37 ultra-marathons ranging from 50k to 100-miles, with 5 wins and consistent top-10 finishes. Justin is proud to serve as an ambassador for organizations committed to quality, their community, and the environment. Justin is happy to spread the Race Green message across the country to help encourage more athletes to green their travel.
About Bonneville Environmental Foundation
Why should you spend your hard earned money with us? BEF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit environmental organization. And that means all of our "profits" get reinvested back into renewable energy and watershed projects. In a real sense, you and your community are stakeholders in our organization.
When you participate in our Race Green program, your purchase supports the development of a variety of sustainable energy projects. On a broad scale, here's how your green helps the Earth stay green:
- Adding renewable energy to our power grids
- Funding solar power systems for schools and public buildings
- Building wind power systems for farms, ranches and communities
- Helping restore watersheds to improve water quality and native fish habitats
But there's more to it. A BEF Carbon Offset represents an opportunity and a responsibility. Instead of dirty fossil fuels, you are choosing to support and invest in clean renewable energy. When we produce clean energy and feed it into the system, or "Energy Pool", the dirty, non-renewable sources are scaled back as wind and solar take over - which means less carbon dioxide emitted into our air and atmosphere.
