Paddle Green with BEF Carbon Offsets

From whitewater rafting on the Colorado River to kayaking the Everglades, climate change and its effects on natural ecosystems will affect all paddlers and water sports enthusiasts. The implications of climate change include damaged watersheds and fluctuating water levels. BEF's Paddle Green program was developed as a solution for those who love being on the water and want to do something to help protect water habitats while addressing one of the root causes of global warming: our nation's energy system.

Altering climates and degrading freshwater resources are two primary threats facing our world in the 21st century. These are complex and interrelated issues that demand innovative and scientific solutions. Bonneville Environmental Foundation, a non-profit organization, simultaneously addresses both of these issues with its coordinated watershed and renewable energy programs.

In addition to supporting the BEF Paddle Green program, you can calculate your travel to and from your paddling destination using our BEF Carbon Calculator. You can also offset the emissions from your home, your business and transportation through the purchase of BEF Carbon Offsets.

About Bonneville Environmental Foundation

Why should you spend your hard earned money with us? BEF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit environmental organization. And that means all of our "profits" get reinvested back into renewable energy and watershed projects. In a real sense, you and your community are stakeholders in our organization.

When you participate in our Paddle Green program, your purchase supports the development of a variety of sustainable energy and watershed restoration projects. On a broad scale, here's how your green helps the Earth stay green:

  • Adding renewable energy to our power grids
  • Funding solar power systems for schools and public buildings
  • Building wind power systems for farms, ranches and communities
  • Helping restore watersheds to improve water quality and native fish habitats

BEF's Paddle Green Program

BEF's Paddle Green program funds the development of clean, renewable energy sources and long-term watershed restoration. When you participate in our Paddle Green program, you're canceling out (offsetting) a set amount of greenhouse gases your activities release into the environment.

But there's more to it. BEF's Paddle Green program represents an opportunity and a responsibility. Instead of dirty fossil fuels, you are choosing to support and invest in clean renewable energy. When we produce clean energy and feed it into the system, or "Energy Pool", the dirty, non-renewable sources are scaled back as wind and solar take over - which means less carbon dioxide emitted into our air and atmosphere.
