Solar Projects

BEF’s Green-e Climate certified Solar Offsets and Wind & Solar Offsets are supplied by distributed roof-top solar projects in Oregon and California.

Alder Solar: This 859 kilowatt solar photovoltaic project will be located at the Portland Habilitation Center in Portland, Oregon. PHC is a nonprofit which assists individuals with disabilities by providing the training they need to develop their skills so that they may obtain and maintain meaningful work. The project is expected come online in fall 2008.

SunEdison Projects: BEF purchases green tags from several SunEdison solar photovoltaic projects in California, including projects at California State San Bernardino, and other commercial and government buildings. These projects are independently owned, and provide electricity directly to the host facilities. Each project commenced operations in September 2007, and ranges in size from 293 kilowatts to nearly 1 megawatt.

BEF uses the Green-e Climate's "Protocol for Renewable Energy" to certify these projects for use in Green-e Climate certified Solar Offsets and Wind & Solar Offsets, and to calculate the reduced greenhouse gas emissions caused by these projects. This project passed the following additionality tests required by Protocol for Renewable Energy: (1) Performance and Technology Test, (2) Timing Test, and (3) Legal and Regulatory Test.
