"The Green Tags program is a wonderful way to reward people for doing their part to help save the environment. When we received our first check, We couldn't help but remark about how great it is to be paid to help produce our own power. Besides, It's great watching our electric meter run backwards!"

In an effort to jump-start solar development in the region, BEF and the Northwest Solar Cooperative have made a five-year purchase commitment for Green Tags from new small solar installations throughout Oregon and Washington. The partnership calls for the Cooperative to sign agreements with the owners of new photovoltaic systems and pay the system owners 10 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) for the environmental attributes - or Green Tags - produced by the solar systems. BEF will in turn purchase the Green Tags from the co-op for resale to BEF's customers. Up to 80 small solar installations on homes and businesses are included in the first phase of the project. |
