The 148-acre Kotzebue wind farm is located approximately 4.5 miles south of the town of Kotzebue, AK. Kotzebue Electric Association (KEA) funded the development and installation of its wind farm in Kotzebue with the support of the State of Alaska, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's (NREL's) National Wind Technology Center, the U.S. Environmental Protetion Agency (EPA) and the Alaska Science and Technology Foundation. The wind farm provides approximately 1,614 MWh of electricity per year. The Alaska Technical Center in Kotzebue has sixteen BP585 and eight BP5170 PV panels donated by British Petroleum (BP).

Equipment:

Three Atlantic Orient Corporation (AOC) 15/15 turbines (66 kW continuous rating) were installed in July 1997, seven in May 199, and two in October 2004. One Northern Power Systems (NPS) Polar 100 kW wind turbine was installed in April 2002.
BP585 (85W) & BP5170 (170W) PV Panels were installed at the Alaska Technical Center.
