Job Title: Watershed Program Manager

The Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) is an independent and non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization with a dual mission of a) restoring Pacific Northwest aquatic ecosystems and b) establishing new renewable energy programs and projects across North America. BEF’s Watershed Program works with tribes, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders to develop, fund, and implement comprehensive 10-year watershed restoration and monitoring programs. Position Summary
This is a full-time position with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation’s Watershed Program. The Watershed Program Manager will be responsible for supporting all aspects of BEF’s Model Watershed Restoration Grants Program. The Watershed Program Manager will report to BEF’s Vice President-Watersheds. Key duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Develop and sustain relationships with tribes, agencies, and community-based watershed groups and collaborate with local stakeholders and scientific advisors to both design and evaluate long-term (10+year) watershed restoration and monitoring strategies.
- Understand the principles of watershed science, ecological monitoring, and fish and wildlife management and use this knowledge to support all aspects of watershed restoration and monitoring work conducted by BEF’s Model Watershed program grantees.
- Provide the full range of administrative support necessary to effectively and accountably manage a watershed restoration grants program.
- Participate in the development of materials, professional papers, and/or presentations that describe BEF’s watershed program strategies, progress, and results.
- Other duties as assigned
Please Note: although occasional travel and site visits are required for this position, the majority of work will be performed in an office setting.
Desired Qualifications
- At least 3 years professional experience in ecological restoration, monitoring, and/or watershed or fisheries research or management, with demonstrated skills in these areas.
- Substantial experience and demonstrated skills working with community based, volunteer, and/or tribal organizations.
- M.S. or B.S. degree in ecological science field such as hydrology, water resources, fisheries science, forestry, environmental studies, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to forge cooperative relationships with other organizations and agencies, including joint and collaborative operating agreements.
- Experience in competing for grant funding, including writing grant proposals, negotiating partnerships, and administering grant contracts.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively, collegially, and in a self-directed manner.
- Demonstrated ability to manage contractors or grantees in a manner that elicits the fullest contribution from these people toward achieving shared goals.
- Demonstrated ability to write professional and/or scholarly reports and effectively deliver presentations to both large and small audiences.
- Familiarity with Pacific Northwest or Western watershed restoration and/or management issues is preferred but not essential.
