All of the renewable sources of BEF’s Green Tags meet rigorous environmental criteria endorsed by three leading environmental organizations including The Natural Resources Defense Council. To our knowledge, BEF is the only Green Tag provider that performs such project analyses. BPA, another key partner, has supplied wind, low-impact hydro, landfill gas and solar for EPP and Green Tags. BPA has committed its revenues from these green power sales to fund future development of new renewable resources.
Other early supporters were the Hewlett Foundation and the Packard Foundation. These two groups provided funds to cover the administrative and start-up expenses of BEF during the first two years of operation.
